In cases where no building permit can be verified for the roof on homes 25 years and older, insurers now require a Roof Condition Certification before insuring the home. Citizen’s Insurance Company developed this service and other insurance companies quickly followed Citizen’s lead.
Citizen’s requirements regarding Roof Condition Certification form:
Shingle, built up tar and gravel, or other roof coverings that are over 25 years old are not insurable but may become eligible by submitting a Roof Certification verifying that the roof has a remaining life of at least 3 years. Tile, slate, clay, concrete or metal roofs that are over 50 years old are not insurable but may become eligible for coverage by submitting a Roof Certification verifying that the roof has a remaining life of at least 3 years.
As a state licensed Home Inspector, I have the training to certify your roof. All Roof Certifications are submitted on form CIT RCF-1 1108 and stored online for your convenience.
